KP govt closes JuD offices and seminaries

KP govt closes JuD offices and seminaries

Mar 17, 2018 - 14:02

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Offices of an outlawed outfit, its humanitarian wing and seminaries have been closed by Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.

As part of a crackdown against the Haifz Saeed-led Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and its Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) were seized in Peshawar, the provincial capital, DawnNews said

With support from police and other law-enforcement agencies, the district administration initiated action against the JuD and closed down three seminaries and two mosques.

“We have sealed offices of the foundation, closed three religious schools and two mosques and handed over the seized properties to the Auqaf Department,” a senior official was quoted as saying.

Some weeks ago, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) issued a notification, asking citizens not to donate to organisations on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctions list.

Hafiz Saeed has repeatedly been blamed by the US and India for masterminding the 2008 attacks on the Indian financial capital that killed 166 people. He has been designated as a global terrorist by the US and UN.
