KABUL (Pajhwok): Zimbabwe beat Afghanistan by two runs in the World Cup Qualifiers on Tuesday played at Bulawayo.

In what is said to be a decisive match for the Afghan side to keep their hop alive for playing in the mega event of 219 World Cup, Afghanistan just left short and suffered defeat from the host Zimbabwe by 2 runs.

Afghan batsmen took a careful start to chase the target of 197 earlier set by the Zimbawen side, but the men in blue suffered a sudden collapse in the late moment of their chase and were confined to 177/9.

Zimbabwean bowlers really came hard at the Afghan tail and send them one after another to the dressing room in quick successions.

Dawlat and Shapoor’s last wicket partnership was the only hope which could have pulled a sensational victory but they felt shore and could not passed the target the opposition total of 196.

Afghanistan managed to score 194 all out in replay to Zimbabwe 196.
