Gold, flour prices down in Kabul markets

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of gold and flour went down but of other daily-use item stayed stable during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.

The price of one gram of Arabian gold fell from 2, 400 to 2, 350afs and of the same quantity of the Russian variety from 1, 900 to 1, 850afs, said Haji Fawad Ahamd Saleh Zadah, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News changes in gold prices in Kabul were associated with the trend in globe markets.

Fazal Rahman, Food Traders' Union head, said the rate of a 50-kilogram sack of Kazakh flour declined from 1,100 afs to 1090 afs.

A 49-kg of Pakistani sugar was for 1, 600afs, a 16-liter tin of Khurshid ghee for 10. 20afs and a 24-kg rice of Pakistani for 2, 000afs--- same rates as of last week’s.

Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad Khirkhwa, a shopkeeper in Mandi area, said one kg of Indonesian green tea cost 2, 80afs and the same quantity of African black tea 300afs.

But a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh area of Kabul, Ahmad Wali Punjsheri    , sold a 50-kg bag of flour for 1, 150afs, a 49-kg sack of Pakistani sugar for 1,800afs and a 24-kg bag of rice for 2, 400afs, one kg of Indonesian green tea for 3,00afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 3, 50afs.

The prices of fuel also remained steady as a filling station worker in Wazirabad locality, Abdul Hadi, said one liter of diesel was accounted for 42afs and the same quantity of patrol for 44afs, registering no change in their rates.

 Ahmadullah, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta neighborhood, said the rate of one kg of the commodity was 50afs, the same rate of as of last week’s.

Moneychanger Sadaqat said the buying rate of one US dollar was 69.12afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 612afs. Last week's exchange value of the dollar stood at 69.10afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 611afs.
