Foreigners among 10 rebels killed in Badakhshan offensive

Feb 12, 2017 - 15:02

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): At least 10 militants, including foreigners, have been killed and 14 others wounded during an operation in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said Sunday.

Ahmad Navid Frotan, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the operation -- codenamed Kokcha 011 -- was launched in the Juram district of the province on Saturday.

He said a Taliban commander named Mullah Naqibullah and six foreign fighters were among the dead. Fourteen other rebels were injured. Fargha Miro, Fargha Manj, Sartal and Lopakian villages were cleared.

Frotan confirmed one security official was also killed and two others were injured in the offensive, which would continue until all insurgents were flushed out from the district.
